Why doesn't CallControl recognize my contacts?

There are a few reasons, why CallControl might not be able to recognize numbers of incoming and outgoing calls.

You might need to check the following things:

a) CallControl might not be allowed to access your contacts

b) CallControl might be too strict when trying to recognize your numbers

If a) and b) don't solve your problem, please open a support ticket in our help desk.

a) CallControl might not be allowed to access your contacts

To solve this, follow these steps:

1. Open "System Preferences" on your Mac

2. Click "Language & Region" in the first line

3. Click the tab "Privacy" on the top of the control panel

4. Click "Contacts" on the left hand side

5. Look for CallControl in the list on the right hand side.

6. If the checkbox beside CallControl is turned off, turn it on. Otherwise everything is OK here.

b) CallControl might be too strict when trying to recognize your numbers

1. Open "CallControl"

2. Click the menu "CallControl" -> "Preferences..." to open the CallControl Preferences

3. Click the tab "Phone" on the top of the panel.

4. Look at the FXO prefix. In most cases the FXO prefix should be 2. In your case you might want to try to set it to 3.

Background: The FXO Prefix is the number of digits CallControl cuts off the number it receives from the PBX to send it to the Contacts.app to recognize a number. The higher the FXO prefix is the more fuzzy the recognition works. The FXO Prefix should always be at least 1.

If the steps above didn't help to solve your problem, please open a support ticket and describe your problem. Please also mention that you already tried to solve the problem using this FAQ article.
